We enjoy giving feedback to students and parents on a wide range of work samples during our home visits. This is a very informative time and a good opportunity to give acknowledgement of student’s effort and progress, which in the long term can be more important than attainment marks.

We will also give three written reports per year, the first a Progress Report, next an Interim Report and at the end of the year a Final Report.

Please remember, rating student performance on a given task is rarely an exact science. So if you have any issues with your student’s report please talk with your teacher as sometimes mistakes are made or clarification is needed on how the work sample was assessed.

Within the Final Report there will also be an opportunity to report on Effort and Progress in each subject area.

For attainment on units or subject grading, Australian schools are required to use a five step grading system

Our Grading System

VHA: Very High Achievement

HA: High Achievement

SA: Satisfactory Achievement

LA: Low Achievement

VLA: Very Low Achievement

In Addition:

If the assessment item relates to a criterion-based course (e.g. TAFE course) or a subjective or personal work sample (e.g. poem about a funeral) then it may be marked as “Completed” (C).

For test-based work an average percentage mark may be given.

Grading Scales:

LLATL, A Beka, Maths Quest, Go Maths, Unit Tests and Final Tests in Math-U-See have a pass mark of 50% as does Saxon Maths, These gradings translate to:
